Religious Education

All those involved in our religious education programs form a community of faith; children, parents, catechists, staff, and our church.  Together  we assist children and young people to grow in intimacy with Jesus. Together we can help them develop a love of their faith and encourage them to increasingly be able to make informed and mature responses to that faith. Register todayand give your child the gift of a lifetime. Help them nurture their faith and recognize the presence of Christ in themselves and others.

There are three (3) components of Primary Faith Formation at

Immaculate Conception Parish/St. Jude Mission Church:

   1:) Religious Education Catechesis.

You choose which one of the two following programs best fits your family schedule:

This is a one-week intense program that runs the last full week of

June from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm. The children have religious education

 classes, games, music and arts/crafts.

This is a hybrid program combining classroom catechesis and

at-home activities. It runs from mid-September through the beginning of April.

   2:)   The  Faith Filled Events/Activities

  • Academy Cards(for Grades K - 5)

In August each child (in either of the above programs)  will be given an

Academy Card which includes a list of various activities, events, and

community opportunities from which to choose.  You MUST complete at least

five (5) events. The Academy Card options run from the end of September through

the middle of April.  These are family events and at least one parent/guardian must

attend with their child.

  • Edge (for Grades 6 - 8)

This program runs once a month from mid September through the beginning

of April. Edge is Catholic middle school youth ministry that helps young people

with life’s most challenging years. It is designed to foster faith formation,

community, and personal encounters with Jesus; providing a safe, fun,

and engaging environment for middle schoolers to explore their faith, ask

questions, and grow in their relationship with Christ.

  3:) The Diocesan Policy Requirement

  • For the Sake of God's Children

This will be taught on the last Wednesday in January. This program is

a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary, multi-year curriculum focusing on

preventing child abuse.  It is the intent of the curriculum to provide

sequential and age-appropriate information on an annual basis.

No matter which of the two programs in the first component your family chooses to attend, that program and one of the programs in

the second component and third component must be completed to fulfill the yearly diocesan requirements for Religious Education .

There will be a closing celebration for ALL Primary Faith Religious Education Programs on the last Wednesday Evening in April. Completion certificates will be issued at that time for all those who completed both components.
